Ph.D Admissions at NIT Warangal for December 2011 Sessions
Applications are invited for the admission in to Ph. D programs at National Institute Technology (NIT) – Warangal.
The Ph.D. Programs are offered in the Departments of
• Civil Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electronics and Communications Engineering
• Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
• Chemical Engineering
• Computer Science and Engineering
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Mathematics
• School of Management
The Ph.D. Programs are offered on:
(1) Full-time basis
(2) Part-time basis for the candidates from National Research Laboratories and from Public Sector Units having research facilities and having an MOU with NIT-Warangal ONLY
Eligibility:
For Engineering: Candidate must possess a B.Tech. and M.Tech. / ME / MS or equivalent degree with first class (at all levels) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate in the relevant stream and a valid GATE score.
For Mathematics: Physics and Chemistry: Candidate should possess a B.Sc. and M.Sc./M.Phil. or equivalent degree with first class (at all levels) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate in the relevant subject and a valid GATE score.
For Management: Candidate should possess a B.Tech /M.Tech. with MBA (Two years Full-Time) from reputed Institute / University with first class (at all levels) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate in the relevant stream along with a valid CAT /JMET/GMAT/NET/ GATE score.
The candidates selected for admission into Ph.D. under Full-time program are eligible to receive institute fellowship as follows. The tenure of a research fellowship is three years only.
(a) Candidates joining with Master’s degree in, Engineering / Technology or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto,
Rs.18, 000/- per month, for the first two years
Rs.20, 000/- per month, in the third year.
(b) Candidates joining with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or Master’s degree in Science or a degree recognized as equivalent to any of them.
Rs. 16,000/- per month, for the first two years
Rs. 18,000/- per month in the third year
The above institute fellowships are subjected to changes from time to time, under instructions of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
The candidates will be selected through an institute entrance test and/or an interview.
The candidates selected for admission for Ph.D. under Fulltime basis are required to stay at the campus only.
How to apply: The filled-in applications along with necessaiy documents and a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/- in the case of SC/ST candidates) towards Registration fee, drawn in favour of The Director, National Institute of Technology, Warangal, payable at SBH, NIT Warangal branch (Code No. 2149) should reach Deputy Registrar, Academic Section National Institute of Technology, Warangal 506 004 in a superscribed envelope ‘ Application for Admission to Ph.D.
