Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani is a “Deemed to be University” established in 1964 under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956. Its campuses in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai provide to over 12,000 students an all-round educational and co-curricular experience that is second to none in India. Applications are invited for admission to PhD Programmes at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses in the following disciplines:

Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Economics and Finance, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Management. Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmacy, Physics, Humanities and Social Sciences. Interdisciplinary areas such as Biotechnology, Energy, Environment, Robotics, Nano-science & Nanotechnology and Water Management.

Input Qualification:
■ ME/MPharm/MBA/MPhil from an Institute of repute or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% in aggregate.
■ Candidates with an MSc/BE/BPharm or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% in aggregate may also be considered for PhD admission. For PhD Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences, candidates with an MA and with a minimum of 55% aggregate may also be considered.
Full-time students: Candidates are required to devote full time towards PhD. Shortlisted candidates will be required to come to Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad campuses for test and/or interview. CSIR/UGC-NET qualified candidates will be exempted from written test.
Part-time students: Candidates working in organizations situated in close vicinity of campuses of BITS Pilani will be admitted under this scheme.

Assistantship: Those admitted to full-time PhD programme will be considered for Research / Project Assistantships up to Rs.25,000 per month. Selected candidates will be required to participate in teaching and other academic programmes of the institute under the guidance of a mentor.

· Candidates passed in a three year Diploma course in Home Science can also apply for admission under 10% supernumerary seats quota.

Criteria for selection:

  • The candidates shall be selected based on merit in optional subjects of the two-year Intermediate or its equivalent Examination as per the rule of reservation. In case of other equivalent examinations passed by the candidates, the weightage of marks obtained in optional subjects shall be reckoned on par with those of the two-year Intermediate examination.
  • In case of a tie in aggregate marks in optional subjects obtained by two or more candidates, the total marks secured in the Intermediate (10+2) shall be taken into consideration. In case of a further tie, the age of the candidates shall be taken into consideration and the older candidates shall be given preference for the seat.

Age:

  • The candidates for admission to this course in the University shall be required to have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission with an upper age limit of 22 years for all the candidates, 25 years in respect of SC and ST candidates and 27 for Physically Challenged candidates.

Reservation of seats for the candidates coming from Rural Areas:

  • 40% of the seats in this course are reserved for candidates coming from rural areas. Candidates seeking admission under this category should produce a certificate(s) from the Heads of Institutions that the candidate has studied for a period of minimum 4 years in the schools located in Non-Municipal areas during their period of study from 1st class to 12th class/Intermediate (any four years). The relevant information has to be filled in the proforma as prescribed in Form-I of the application from duly signed by the Head of the institution concerned.

MBA Program at NIT Kurukshetra – 2016

nit_kurukshetraNational Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (NITK), one of the 31 NITs in the country, is inviting applications from the eligible candidates for admission into MBA program for the academic year 2016-18.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Admission criteria for both category of seats (Government Funded Seats and Self-Financed Seats) will be same. The eligibility criterion is as under:

  • Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India / AIU. This degree must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling [Class 12 or equivalent] 10+2+3 system. The minimum percentage requirement at Graduation level is 50 (45% for SC/ST applicants).
  • Valid scorecard of CAT/CMAT/GMAT/MAT 2015-16
  • Shortlisting of Candidates will be done on the basis of CAT/CMAT/GMAT/MAT score and accordingly candidates will be called for Group Discussion (GD)/Personal Interview (PI).

NUMBER OF SEATS

The sanctioned intake of this programme for 2016-2018 is 90. The seats are available in two categories i.e. Government Funded Seats & Self-Financed Seats.

  • Regular (Government Funded) Category: 60 Seats
  • Self-financed Category: 30 Seats

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION

  • Merit list will be prepared for Offer of Admission on the combined marks of the following two components:
    • CAT/CMAT/GMAT/MAT Score of 2015 & 2016: 70 marks*
    • Performance in GD / PI: 30 marks

*The weightage for the percentile of CAT/CMAT/GMAT/MAT exam would be computed as per table below:

HOW TO APPLY
Download the Application Form from the website nitkkr.ac.in. Fill and send the application form complete in all respects along with all relevant documents and application fee before the due date. Applicants List will be put up on the institute website along with the Group Discussion & Personal Interview schedule, to be held at NIT Kurukshetra in the month of April 2016.

NO SEPARATE INTIMATION WILL BE GIVEN FOR GROUP DISCUSSION/ PERSONAL INTERVIEW.

Based on the combined performance of Group Discussion and Personal Interview and CAT/CMAT/GMAT/MAT Score, a merit list will be prepared and displayed on the institute website. Waitlisted candidates will be offered admission if seats remain vacant.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND GENERAL INFORMATION
Qualification (As on 01.06.2015) – Degree (Graduation) with minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in any discipline from a recognized University OR any equivalent qualification as such recognized by Central Government.

Students appearing in the final year of graduation may also apply but their final selection will only be subject to their being able to pass and produce their Graduation Certificate/Mark sheets with the minimum stipulated marks as on 01.06.2015.
